Before going into the context of my paper on Childhood Sexual Abuse and its long-term affects, I thought I’d take this opportunity to say why I decided to continue with this subject after already doing a group presentation on Child Abuse.

In the United States, the popular representation of an “ideal” family is one that is White, suburban, and middle class. This “ideal” family consists of four members; happily married parents, and two children, usually one being a boy, and the younger a girl.

Hypothesis: Teenagers nationwide are engrossed by what is shown on television about sex, as well as the myths that are told about sexual experiences and need to be more educated on safer sex.

“We supposedly needed to be trained in airplane safety, emergency evacuations, the serving of meals, and other ways to make the passengers comfortable. But the school was more like a crash course for Miss America pageant.

The crime rate in Canada is generally calculated by the amount of criminal code infractions that have occurred yearly (Stats Canada, 2001). In 2001, it is reported that there were 7655 incident per one hundred thousand people within Canada (SC, 2001).

Lois Lowry’s main character “Jonas, is a young 11 year old boy who enjoys learning and experiencing new things” (Spark 1) in “The Giver”, and Ayn Rands main character “Equality 72521, young adult with growing desire to spend time alone, to write for his own benefit only, and to create at his own leisure and for his own purposes”- (spark 1) in “Anthem”, have many things in common.

Mark Twain’s use of irony in his writings is what makes his work so hard to put down and quit reading, his stories are based around ironic tones, characters, and situations.

There are two ways to handle the type of situation that the boys in Lord of the Flies were in. There is the civilized way and then there is the chaotic way. The boys chose both ways.

F. Scott Fitzgerald places his story of The Great Gatsby in the bustling city of New York, where rich and the poor coexist practically next door to each other.

It is only human nature to have secrets. They are a part of people’s lives that the general public would never assume to be there given the person’s everyday appearance.
